Get Started with ETL Validator

ETL Validator Complete comes with an embedded postgreSql repository and Tomcat Server.

Step 1: Download ETL Validator

Click to start the download of ETL Validator. Please contact us if you have any trouble downloading the file.

Step 2: Install ETL Validator

Extract the ETL Validator Complete zip file and double click on the .exe file to start the setup wizard. Please install the .Net framework when prompted to complete the install. Verify that the following three windows services are running : Datagaps ETL Validator Database, Datagaps  ETL Validator pgbouncer & Datagaps ETL Validator Server.

Step 3: Login to ETL Validator

ETL Validator should open up automatically after the install with a login screen. The default user name / password is admin / admin which is pre-populated. ETL Validator comes with an embedded repository database (PostgreSQL) for storing the test case metadata and results. This repository is sufficient for most pilots. Click on the “Login” button. You will be prompted to register the license file or select 30 day trial. Pick the latter.

Step 4: Connect to your Data Sources

After login, click on the Create Data Source Connection to create a connection to your data source. ETL Validator support testing of most popular relational databases (such as Oracle, SQL Server, Netezza, DB2), flat files (both delimited and fixed width), XML, Excel & Hadoop Hive2.

Step 5: Start creating Test Cases and Test Plans

Once the connections have been created successfully, click on the menu in the top left corner to start creating test cases and test plans. Please contact us with any questions or issues. Query Compare test case is a good starting point if you want to compare data from one relational database to another.
